Daddys pride and joy!!!!

This week has been a tear jerker (us teary for once instead of our toddlers). Keegan started off watching a NASCAR race with Kurt on Sunday (and no...I dont approve, I am trying to squelch the redneck genes!!!! Just kidding). Kurt turned up the volume for the National Anthem and the flyover (I still dont understand how a pilot gets excited about seeing planes; kinda like a garbage man getting excited about trash day to me) and Keegan stood up, put his hand over his heart and stood there in silence the entire time. We have only show him this once. I know, that may seem odd for a military kid...but if I havent mentioned it before, we dont go out in public with our two kids very often. If you knew them you would understand what an event leaving the house for long is!!! Anyway, back to the story. Kurt was beaming with pride when his little boy did this. Guess it is time to start teaching him the Pledge of Allegiance. Anyway...if that wasnt enough, we were in the car yesterday and he saw the jets fly over. He told me that the first one was him and the second was daddy. The third one was of course Uncle Crush (we are working on it Newell Family...I promise, Uncle Napalm with be in the 4 ship soon). He told me that when he was big he was going to fly F-16s with daddy. And he got M&ms at the store for being such a sweetie!!!! Oh...and for those of you out there unfamiliar with our fighter pilot life...those are not his uncles REAL names...nor his uncles really. But they are our family from past and present assignments who we love dearly and couldnt make it through life without. And come on, Uncle Neal and Uncle Vince just sound way too boring dont you think:)

Ok...short story just turned into a long one...story of my life I guess. Just be happy that I actually completed the story!!!

Love to you all...we miss you all...and for his pilot "uncles" Keegan says "Drive Safe", Fly Fast", "Love you"

The D10 family

cheesy grins, bucket head, equal opportunity etc...

Here are Keegan and Reese fake grins. They just started doing this and this look is plastered on their faces as soon as I point the camera at them. And, Keegan says "cheese" over and over and over. I think Reese actaully started it...it was her reaction to the flash:) This is a typical scenario in our house...that the baby sister teaches the big bro lots of things.

Everyone has ben commenting on how RED Reeses hair is...now that she has some:) Can you see it??? Still looks blonde on a daily basis...but these comments are from unbiased observers who dont know of all the family members praying for a little red haired baby!!!!! Maybe we have a shot after all. If not it will just be up to Lisa:)

After lots of fun actually playing with the blocks the kids entertained themselves for quite a long time with the storage bucket.

Look at those blue eyes:) And do you like Keegans hairdo??? It is his faux-hawk...inspired by the lovely ladies he spent time with at the beach. Teenage girls sure can make you feel old and out of date??? I didnt even know what a faux-hawk was:)
Reeses turn!!!!

Reeses new baby Bella. After getting shots at the allergist last week I decided that she deserved a new toy (we will not mention Kurts reaction to me saying she NEEDED a new toy). So we went to Target and went right to the baby doll aisle since she is obsessed with her babies. Anyway...she saw this Cabbage Patch doll and just about fell out of the cart trying to get to it. She held the box and said "Baaaabbbyyyy" all the way through the store!!!! Isnt it too cute??? We are on the hunt for the asian baby next:)
Making sure the baby has a good time:)
I love the signature on the butt:) Can you see a little red here...of course her shirt is probably helping out too.

And making sure not to ignore Baby Annie (Keegan named this one...creative huh???) This is her ultimate favorite doll....her American Girl Bitty Baby from Aunt Melissa and the family for her bday:) She got thiss doll on vacation,,,and since Reese was very grumpy more than usual the baby was renamed Bitchy Baby (I wont mention by who!!!!). Funny huh???
Rollling "boppas police car" down the slide. The kids have learned that just about anything can be launched across the toy room when rolled down the slide:)
Cheese
I dont even know what to say here!!!!
All the fun comes to an end!!!!!

And it is nap time!!!!!

funny funny, ha ha

So, Keegan told his first joke tonight. Kurt and I have declared it to be his first joke since what e said was really funny and he knew it before we even laughed. Over the last two and a half years he has done a ton of things to make us crack up...but this time was different. Here is the scene: We are eating dinner and the kids have turkey and cheese. Keegan is picking the cheese off and leaving the turkey behind. You also need to know that Kurt and I call Keegan and Reese our turkeys and since Keegan is all about counting he has decided that he is "turkey 1" and Reese is "turkey 2"...

So....

Me: Keegan, you need to eat your turkey too
Keegan: But mommy, I am turkey one (big smirk follwed by a belly laugh from Keegan)

And for those of you who are keeping track, no turkey was eaten by Keegan yet when he was hungry later he asked for M&ms!!!!

Get it??? Ok...so we arent going to sign him up for a slot on comedy central, but I was impressed by his quick wit.

And to be fair I dont want the sibling rivalry to date back to the blog...here is a Reese story.

We were out in the pool this evening which is quite an adventure with our little daredevil fishy girl. Anyway, Keegan and Reese were taking turns jumping from the side of the pool to Kurt (and by taking turns I mean Keegan was taking turns and Reese had to be held back and screamed until it was her turn again). Kurt was counting to three and then the kids would jump. Apparently our little impatient girl wasnt happy with this process, so she stood up, yelled "3" (a new word!!!)and jumped in. Thank goodness for the pool net is all I can say!!!! Otherwise we would have some serious worries on a daily basis!!!!

So, she now is saying doggie, daddy, mommy, keekee (Keegan) fish, duck, more, out, monkey, yummy, shoes (she is obsessed), choo choo, Elmo, milk, binky and THREE. I am sure I am forgetting quite a few words...Sorry!!!!

Ok...I know I am making you guys read lately...I am sure more pics will be coming soon:)

finally figured it out...

So a while ago Keegan, Reese and I were in Walmart when he completely FREAKED out about a blue betta fish. He was sooooo in love with it that I just had to bring it home (cant wait to see Kurts face when he asks for a pony). So I when I asked him what he was going to name it (he is really into naming things) he said Moe. I had no idea where he had heard this name and was wondering if I even heard it correctly since he still has a thick toddler accent (we also think there is a little unexplainable BAAAHSTON in there too). Anyway, after days it was clearer and clearer that this fishes name was indeed Moe (better than the goldfish that he named Penis!!!!). So at the same time he was learning to shorten names. For example he calls Kurts mom Nonnie...but when he is being a little more casual he just calls here Non. So today he called his fish Nemo. So...Moe, is simply short for Nemo. Impressive since he hasnt seen the movie...I guess Disney seriously has infiltrated the brains of children!!!!

Oh...and while we are on the topic of names...my 2 and a half year old now calls Kurt and I by our first names and thinks he is sooooooo hilarious.!!!! And if he sees someone do something stupid (we use the word silly with him) he says "DUDE!!!!!!!!!!" Can you tell he has spent some time at a fighter squadron???? As long as we can keep him from cussing, pointing with his elbows and drinking I think he still has a chance of blending with the civilian kiddos!!!!

I know...not that impressive...but I was excited to decipher the entire thing!!!!

One more Keegan story...

We are on the hunt for Halloween costumes and I was letting him look on the computer with me. His first choice we Tinkerbell b.c he liked the wings. He declined the ideas of being a fireman, a ninja, and M&m (this one really shocked me) and a pirate. After a few minutes of looking he got the most serious look on his face and said "mommy, I just want to be Keegan". Deep thoughts huh??? So...we have decided that we have a few options at home and we are going to go simple this year since I can already envision 2 meltdowns when I am actaully trying to dress them up on halloween...and I would rather not have to yell vulgar words when my kids wont wear the $50 costume that I just thought was too adorable:)

And now for Reese...

Today I caught her sitting in the middle of the train table throwing cars and track like a wild woman, half way up the kicthen table (she scales the chairs like a monkey), in the middle of my bed jumping, in the bathtub (empty of course) and eating dog food!!! You would think from the sound of it she is left alone for long periods of time. NO...this was all the trouble she found in the time it too me to go to the bathroom or answer the phone!!! All the while Keegan is telling her "No Reese...danger!!!" And when you catch her she has the biggest rotten grin. When you tell her "no" she bursts into tears, pouty lip and all. Already a drama queen at 1!!!! We are in for a wild ride with this one!!!

I promise pics with the next post!!!

Have a great weekend...

Love

workin at the carwash...

Daddy is soooo brave and includes the kids in lots of activities that just seem like chaos to me...

For example, taking them outside to was the car. It actaully ended up being a fun time once we convinced Reese to stay out of the street and off the ladder.

This is soooooo much fun. That smile didnt leave her face the entire time!!!!

This was Keegans favorite part...he screamed when he had to give the hose to daddy...and got in trouble when he blasted his sister with the hose (refer to time out pic at the end of this post). It was soooooo hot that the water was the only thing that made being outside tolerable.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....SOAP!!!!

At what age do you think Kurt will freak out if he sees Reese topless and covered in suds while washing the car???

My hard workers...and my van has never been so clean!!!!

Keegan got in trouble for not listening and had to go to time out. Reese is such a good sister and always goes and sits next to him for moral support.

ahhhhhhhh.....

so things like this make up for the fact that is is a million degrees here. We have some of the most amazing sunsets (most of the time I dont have my camera though, especially during monsoon season when there are some amazing clouds too....

sing it Keegan...

So do you think my son has potential for a career in music...or that he is just as tone deaf as him mom and dad:)

If you want to hear the Keegan you need to pause the music on the playlist to the right...

ENJOY

my studmuffin!!!!

A long time in the making and a long story...but Kurt got his name on a jet for the first time. I guess this makes it his...until they give it to someone else. And he also doenst get to fly it all the time....so I guess it is more of a ceremonial thing. Nonetheless...I am quite impressed:) And thanks to his wonderful crewchief for making it work!!!! My favorite comment is from Rebecca...she said she has never seen so many letters written across an airplane canopy:) I know...you are all jealous of our extremely German last name that is unpronouncable:)

Slammer and his other lady:)

Kurts "desk". Sexy little thing huh??? The jet that is:) At least in this pic:)

fancy duds...

Kurt and I attended a graduation this weekend...one celebrating the accomplishments of the newest F-16 pilots...and remembering the one pilot who didnt make it to this joyous day. It was nice to look back and remember that time in our lives. Seems like yesterday but now Kurt is just one of the old guys and I am one of the old wives. This was VERY apparent when a student kept calling me "maam" in a conversation!!! Funny enough, when looking back at pictures I realized that I wore the same dress to Kurt's graduation and this one. So I am either NOT old or my dress was WAY out of style!!!

We were honored to listen to a speaker who was a P-38 (same plane that Kurts great uncle flew) pilot and an ace in WWII. And we had a reason to get all dressed up. Not a big deal for some, but very exciting for me since I have a hard time getting out of my PJs on a daily basis.

And as always it was just nice to spend time with friends. We are truly blessed with an amazing military family that makes this crazy life all worth while.
Look at all those medals...another sign we are old:)

This is one of Kurts "Party Shirts". The guys have them made and where them under their dressy mess dress jackets. It is a form of quiet rebellion I guess...and at the end of the night after the formalities the guys all show off their shirts. You would think that Kurt owned a Harley from the looks of this shirt!!!

random pics

here are a few random pics from Kurt's parents visit. The kids were thrilled with the attention but I am pretty sure that Nonnie and Boppa are now officially exhausted!!!!

I think she looks just like her aunt Melissa here!!!!

Yummy...sprinkler water!!!!

My little Holly Hobbie

Reese and Keegan makin some waves. About 2 seconds later she dove in. She is so fearless it is scary!!!!!

splish splash...

Here are some pics from ouur weekend trip to the local splash pad. It is alot of fun...and since Reese is insane (she jumps into the pool!!!!) it is a safe and relaxing option for the kids to get wet and cool off since it is sooooo stinkin hot here. Yes...I know we have spent 2 summers here and that it is the desert...but the summer heat truly takes me by surprise every summer. It is just hard to fathom what 115 degrees feels like...so for those of you who havent been hear and think it is a dry heat...go get your blow dryer, turn it on hot and point it directly at your face. That is what it feels like when we walk out the door. Thank goodness for a nice pool and AC (which last year at this time cost us almost $600 for a month!!!!) Anyway...here are some pics from our fun morning. Keegan was his normal OCD self and once he found something enjoyed he didnt budge for an hour...and Reese was her normal self and was crabby until she got a snack. Hope everyone is staying cool!!!! Love A, K, K, and R

what a croc...

Ok...so that was a cheesy title...but I just couldnt help myself. Just wanted to thank Nana and Papa for sending the kids such cute shoes. Keegan is obsessed with his and refuses to wear anything else...and Reese, as always just loves shoes. Thats my girl!!! So here are a few pics of their summer footwear...
