Trick or Treat...

The following are pics from the last few days. Pumpkin carving, Reese still enjoying her rice cereal, trick or treating and Keegan enjoying his first Reeses Peanutbutter Cup...and then brushing his teeth really well after all the sugar:)

Oh...and the pic of Reese wearing her onesie on the outside of her pants is what happens when daddy is left in charge. Kurt put her pants on first and instead of starting all over he just put the onesie over top. He said she looked like a super hero...so I thought this pic fit appropriatly with the hallowen theme:)

Keegan went to 3 houses and our favorite restaurant nearby. He loved knocking on the doors and then was antisocial once someone answered them. He actually liked handing out candy more than getting it and greeted all the kiddos at our house by saying "trick or treat". Of course, as you will see in the pics he also had a meltdown after all the fun...I am sure somewhat sugar induced.

At the end of the night I was just happy that the 4 of us were together. Last year this time of year started a period of too many holidays without daddy. Kind of a strange Halloween message...but please keep all the troops in your thoughts and prayers. For many people being apart on a day like today wouldnt be too big of a deal...but for most military members and their families it is just a reminder of how many special days we spend without a loved one near. I know that this is my hubbys job and I knew what I was getting into when I married him...but it really doenst make it any easier to be apart. I am of him and what he has chosen as a career and I cant imagine our life any other way...but I can not possibly explain how hard certain moments are.

OK...enough of that...Happy Halloween...

Halloween Playgroup and Squadron Kid Party

Here are some pics from our 2 Halloween adventures yesterday. Keegan was a fighter pilot for the neighborhood party in the morning and he and Reese were both monkeys for the evening party with the Spikes. Kurt and I previously thought that Keegan and Reese looked very different...but with just their faces showing in their costumes they look soooooo much alike. We will see what trick or treat night costumes end up being.

He was very timid but had fun. At the squadron he did NOT want a tattoo or to play the bean bag toss...but he loved fishing for treats (he "caught" a glowstick), cupcake decorating and splashing in the apple bobbing bucket:)

Oh...and since Keegan got so much yummy stuff we finally decided to start Reese on solid food. This morning she had rice cereal for the first time and LOVED it. For the past month or so her mouth has been wide open when she sees us eating, but the pediatrician said to wait until 6 months. Keegan started at 4 months but I guess the Dr recommendation has recently changed. We decided that a few weeks shy of her 6 month bday was good enough. Maybe for her half bday we will give her some yummy fruit for the first time!!!

Beach Pics

Just in case you didnt know, the beach is one of my favorite places in the world. So, I apologize for the large amount of pictures...but I truly loved a ton of them. Keegan loved the beach once he overcame the urge to wipe the sand off of his feet every step he took. There was a playground on the beach and he cried whenever we made him come inside. Between the playground and the airplanes and helicopers flying over non-stop he was in heaven. He also loved feeding the gulls my breakfast. Keegan and I would go get coffee and a bagel each morning and then eat in on the beach together...but the birds normally got most of it:) Reese loved the beach too. She even ate some as you can see in one pic...so I guess that sand is technically her first solid food. Each of the kiddos had their toes dunked in the water so that they can say that they have been in the Pacific Ocean. That may also explain the runny noses that they both have now since the water was pretty chilly. Cant wait to go back when they are both old enough to run around and play. Enjoy the beach pics:)

Shamu....

or as Keegan calls him..."voo voo". Here are our pics from a great day at Sea World San Diego. Both kids (and the grownups too) had a great time. The entire reason for the trip (ok...not REALLY) was accopmplished...for Keegan to meet the biggest fish (and yes we know a whale is really a mammal) that we could think of. we saw the dolphin show, the shamu show, the sea lion and otter show, fed the dolphins and saw tons of other exibits. There was even time for a pitstop at the Budweiser area for some free beer samples. I personally think that it is just Sea Worlds way of thanking parents who are crazy enough to bring their small children to their fabulous park:) Amazing how 2 dixie cups of beer can take away the stresses of a long day:)

ENJOY,,,,

Balboa Park

We had a rainy day so went to Balboa Park to see a few museums. It ended up clearing up and we got to enjoy the sights from outside too...

Pics are from the science museum, railroad museum (where Keegan figured out he could fit in between the railing that was supposed to keep him away from the trains), beautiful architecture outside and the fountain the Keegan loved.

San Diego Harbour Tour

After Kurt came back from a month in Alabama we went with the kids and grandma and grandpa D to San Diego for the week. Other than the kiddos taking turns being up for most of the night the entire time we were there it was a wonderful vacation. From what I hear Navy Seal training only allows the guys about 5 hours of sleep for the entire week...so I am thinking that Kurt and I might be honorary SEALs:)

Here are the pics from the boat tour we took...

The Great Punkin!!!!

We went to the pumpkin patch today...and as you can tell from our clothes it was warmer than we would have liked. 90 degrees and we were picking out pumpkins, eating pumpkin pie and running around in hay bales. It was still fun though. Keegan got to pet kittens (they were looking for a home...and daddy is lucky that one isnt heading back to AZ with us since Keegan LOVED them), feed goats, see bunnies, play in a sandbox filled with corn and pick out pumpkins for aunts, uncles and grandparents. And he had a nutritious lunch of pie, french fries and funnel cake (yes...2 funnel cakes in one trip home!!!). Anyway....we had lots of fun and here is a slide show with some pics...

Enjoy...and happy fall y'all...

Now this is ridiculous!!!!

So I mentioned in an earlier post that I was heading to OH for some fall weather. We have been here 2 weeks and that hasnt happened yet. It was 90 degrees and humid today...and will be warm the rest of the week. Then the say I leave it is supposed to be in the 60's!!!! I can not explain how upset I am about this. I had the cutest little fall outfits for the kiddos and instead they have been wearingt the same few things over and over!!!!

Anyway...here are a few more pics. There will be more tomorrow after our trip to the pumpkin patch. Yes...the pumpkin patch on a hot and humid day. Sounds like fun huh????

Keegan has alwas been timid at the playground...but while at Aunt Melissa and Uncle Mikes he used the big kid swing and went down the slide all by himself and loved it. Rebecca...you saw the terrified look in Clovis when you took him down the slide so you will be impressed even if no one else is:) Do you like his new shoes??? He got some red Chuck Taylors....along with a few other new pairs of shoes including light up ones from grandma Raymer.

He also enjoyed a Cheryls cookie (once again...Rebecca...you will be able to relate) in the shape of a pumpkin. Sorry daddy...but we just had to get them even though they are your favorite. If it makes you feel better we thought of you while eating them:)

Reese is getting bigger and stronger every day. She can roll and scoot herself just about everywhere in a room. Keegan is still her favorite person in the world and she just beams every time she sees him. She babbles and makes funny noises all day long...but sure lets you know when she is hungry or tired!!!! The lungs work on this girly!!!!

One more week until we see daddy...and all of us are REALLY excited.

Hope someone is having some autumn weather somewhere. Send it my way and SOON!!!! Have a great weekend...

Love
